If you’ve ever worked a corporate job, then it’s a good chance there was a department responsible for ensuring people are aware of the company’s products or services.

I mean, can you imagine going through all the hard work of creating a business model, conducting market research, and spending money on startup plans, and your potential customers have no idea that your business even exists?

Wouldn’t that suck?

Let’s take this a little deeper. If your potential customers have no idea your business exists, then you can’t use your business to:

Make an impact in the lives of your clients or customers

Generate revenue to support your family

Give to your favorite charitable causes

Quit your soul-sucking 9-5

And invest in your business to get your message out to the world

I don’t know about you but I’m in this thing to win it! And at the end of the day, it’s not about the money, but what the generating the money allows me to do in my life and the lives of others.

And I’m willing to master the skills I need to make sure I can do just that. That’s why I’m urging you to embrace your new business BFF…marketing.

You may be asking, “Tameka, why should marketing be my new BFF?”

Well, let’s start by looking up the meaning of a friend. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary (yes, I went there), a friend is defined as:

1. a person who you like and enjoy being with
2. a person who helps or supports someone or something (such as a cause or charity)

So, let’s put this into perspective. I suggest making marketing your new BFF because it’s going to support your business and once you see the result of that support, you’ll enjoy engaging in it more and more.

I’m a firm believer that the one thing stopping entrepreneurs from embracing marketing is the fear of rejection from putting yourself out there.

But until we put ourselves out there, your ideal clients won’t know you can help them. And until you generate revenue from helping them, you can’t use that revenue to do the things listed above. 🙁

That’s why I’m determined to continue to grow my business by putting myself out there. And as result, I get to serve my clients through services like the Dream Business Strategy Session.

So what’s it going to be? Are you going to continue to sit and wait for potential clients to come to you or will you commit to embracing your new business BFF so you can generate the revenue to support the vision for your life and business?

I think I can answer that for you with one of my favorite quotes (and you can click on it to tweet it).

“Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.” @MissMandyHale @tamekanallen
